MW Motorsport display great form at the mountain

Matthew White and team mate Tim Slade demonstrated their competitiveness at Mt Panorama Bathurst this weekend. White set the pace in qualifying recording the second fastest time of 2:09.53 (good enough for 22nd on the V8supercar grid).

Race 1 was marred with controversy, White made a great start however Tony Dalberto failed to make turn 1 and ran into White while White was on the far outside of the track. Unfortunately the impact bent the steering and dropped White to 9th.

“I made a great start and was positioned perfectly to lead the race into turn 2, I left enough room for my mum to fit a Jayco caravan through on the inside, however Dalberto still couldn’t make it around the corner” claimed a frustrated White.

Team mate Tim Slade made a great start and displayed the cars speed after problems in qualifying, Slade moved from 30th to 9th in an incident free run, meanwhile White recovered to 5th.

For race 2 both cars were starting in the top 10 and looking forward to moving through the field, both drivers were happy with the cars pace and so confident no changes were made to either car for the race. Slade got off to a great start moving into 7th and for the first 4 laps White and Slade chased down Kayne Scott. Just as the safety car was called White suffered front brake failure while descending the mountain. “At the most critical braking area on the track the pedal went straight to the floor, I was frantically downshifting to wash off speed and reduce the severity of the looming impact. The car had shown no sign of brake trouble and out of the blue there was a total loss of pedal pressure. Ultimately downshifting to first locked the rears and sent the car backwards into the wall, I was lucky the rest of the field were able to miss me as there was potential for a bigger incident” White stated.

Tim Slade again displayed maturity beyond his years bringing the second MW Motorsport BA Falcon home in 4th after a spirited battle with Jose Fernandez.

MW Motorsport will be busy over the coming month, the development is proving worthy and there is more speed to come for Phillip Island. Thanks again to Jayco, Gulf Western and Imesh Solutions.
