Slade Wins Round 2 at Wakefield Park

Tim Slade had had a great result from what looked like being a poor start to his weekend at Wakefield Park, Goulbourn.

Tim was only on the track Saturday and Sunday, which made for some hectic work by the team. Friday was set up day in readiness for the weekend. Saturday the team had two Practices and Qualifying. Tim’s Commodore was not all that fast and his end result was 9th in Qualifying. Set up was checked that night and a problem was found in the front end which gave the team hope for the races.

Sunday dawned as another brilliant day weather wise. Zero degrees early soon transformed into mid twenties. The first race saw a few other drivers spear off the newly surfaced track which left Tim in 7th place at the end. The top ten reverse grid played into Tim’s hands and his great start saw him in the lead early. Lap 6 saw a fast and unbeaten Steve Owen into the lead. A while later the pace car was called out allowing the cars to bunch up. Tim got a great restart and was able to pass Owen on the second last lap and record his maiden V8 Supercar win.

The 3rd and last race was marred by a huge crash on the first corner and a full restart was ordered. Tim was able to take better advantage of the second start. After a rough and tumble race, Tim was fortunate to end up in second which gave him enough points to win the weekend ending Owen's dominace of the races so far this season.
